July 3, 2020

Dear Northminster Family,

The COVID-19 pandemic is still causing us to practice social distancing. Although some areas are slowly reopening, we must continue to shelter in. I encourage you to adhere to all of the best practices for staying safe and healthy, and to review the guidelines from your respective governing authorities:

Washington, D.C.

We will continue to worship online until it is safe to return to the sanctuary. You may either dial-in or access Zoom from your computer, tablet, or mobile device. The line will be opened at 10:30 am to offer time for fellowship and getting settled for worship.

Over this weekend, our nation observes the Fourth of July, also known as “Independence Day.” As we know, this country has a long way to go before full independence and freedom is granted to all God’s people. We are also living through an unsettling season of civil unrest and rising cases of an uncontrollable disease (COVID-19). Yet as people of faith, we continue to trust in the promises of God to bring good news to the poor, release to the captives, healing for the sick, and recovery of sight to the blind.

As you celebrate this “Independence Day,” continue to wear your face masks, practice social distancing, and seek creative ways to connect with family and friends. Most of all remember that you were called to live in freedom; so use your freedom to serve one another in love (Gal 5:13).

Have a safe holiday. I look forward to seeing you in worship on Sunday.
