The Life of Northminster

Call to Worship
[Psalm 100]
Be joyful in the LORD, all the earth.
Worship the LORD with gladness;
Come into his presence with singing;
Know that the LORD is God.
We belong to the LORD, who made us,
We are God’s people and the sheep of God’s pasture.
Enter into God’s presence with thanksgiving;
Enter the holy courts with praise;
Give thanks to God and bless his Holy name.
For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting;
And his faithfulness endures to all generations.

Opening Hymn

“Tell Me, Dear Lord”
Minji Kim

Prayer of Confession
God of Grace and Mercy who meets us in our every need, we pray that you would guide us through this season of pandemic, protest, and unpredictable circumstances. Grant us Lord a closer walk with thee. We bring to you our sins – all those things that keep us blind to your truth and separated from your abundant love. Eternal God, create in each of us a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. Reveal the areas in our lives where repentance is necessary, forgive in us what is broken, and awaken in our souls the joy of your salvation. Hear our prayer, Lord. Amen.

Words of Assurance

The Response
“Spirit of the Living God”
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.
Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.
Spirit of the living God,
 fall afresh on me.

Prayer of Illumination
Eternal God, Your Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light for our path. Open our hearts to receive your Word. May it take root in our souls and lead us from darkness into your marvelous light. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Prayers of the People and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

Affirmation of Faith
This is the Good News which we have received, in which we stand,
And by which we are saved, if we hold it fast:
That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
That he was buried, that he was raised on the third day,
And that he appeared first to the women, then to Peter,
And to the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses.
We believe that Jesus is the Christ, The Son of the living God.
Jesus Christ is the first and the last, the beginning and the end;
He is our Lord and our God.

The Offering

Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise God, all creatures here below; Praise God above, ye heavenly host; Creator, Christ, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Prayer of Dedication
God of Grace and Mercy, we come with joyful hearts to thank you for your abundant provision. May our tithes and offerings be used for the ministries of this church as we spread the Gospel to the ends of the earth. Amen.

[Please prepare for the Sacrament of Holy Communion by setting aside “bread” (of your choice) and a “cup” (preferably with grape juice) so that during the service we can remember the great sacrifice of our Risen Savior.]

Preparation for Communion
“Let us Break Bread Together”

Invitation to the Table

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving
The Lord be with you
And also with you
Lift up your hearts
We lift them up to the Lord
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God
It is right to give thanks and praise

Communion of God’s People

Prayer after Communion [all pray together]
Gracious Eternal God: Here at our respective tables, we celebrate Resurrection as you feed us with the bread of heaven and the cup of salvation. You have made us one with all your people throughout the world who live by resurrection faith.  We thank you for your son Jesus who paid the ultimate sacrifice to redeem our souls. Nourished at our tables, may we know Christ’s redemptive love and live a new life in him. Keep us faithful in your service until Christ comes in final victory, and we shall feast with all your saints in the joy of life eternal. Amen.

Closing Music
“Lift Every Voice and Sing”

Amen. Amen. Amen. Hymn #586

The Passing of Peace
